Debris Removal Platform

Award winning solution, which reduces the risk of personal injury due to manual handling and eliminates slips and trips.

To prevent hoisting of containers or platforms at sea, TME and Van Oord developed an automated debris removal system. Debris, that fills the trailing draghead of a trailing suction hopper dredger, can fall onto the deck after bringing back the suction pipe back on board.

The Debris Removal Platform uses its bulldozer blade to push the debris over the side of the dredger. The blade is driven by the ships hydraulic system, ensuring a proper amount of power. Safety is increased relative to the old system of hoisting and shoveling by hand. No hoisting activity is needed and the required workforce is extremely low.

It was announced that the system was winner of IADC SAFETY AWARD 2018.
