Floating line coupling system

TME developed an efficient remote controlled coupling system in collaboration with Boskalis to connect floating dredge hoses in a safe and efficient manner. It eliminates the need for manual labour to be involved in high-risk operations, and was awarded the IADC safety award.

A floating line consists of several floating hoses with a coupling system at the end of the assembly. The coupling system is supported by custom-built floaters. Boskalis developed the coupling system. TME supported Boskalis in the design of the floaters and the integration of the coupling system in the floaters. Extensive tests have been carried out by Boskalis. The result is a simple, cost effective and safe method for coupling floating dredge hoses.
