Changhua – phase 1 Offshore Wind Farm
Sam Kang requested 22 aluminium hard covers for the Changhua – phase 1 offshore wind farm in Taiwan. Hard covers were most suitable, as the covers were used during typhoon season, with extreme weather conditions and high wind speeds of 61.5m/s.
A FEM analysis was conducted to prove the sturdiness of the cover during extreme weather conditions. With reinforcements, the TP-cover was ready to face the high wind speeds.

The diameter of the covers was 5.4 meters. The cover included ventilation and 3 hatches to enter the TP. The three hatches made it possible to reach the lifting eyes without walking on top of the TP-cover. Demounted TP-cover parts were stacked on a frame for easy transportation. For the assembling of the covers, a user manual was included and an instruction video was made, to make assembly clear, fool-proof, and as efficient as possible.
